Barbara Mae Colmer
Rutland,Ohio
1/3/1942-6/1/2020

Barbara Mae Colmer, 78, of Rutland, Ohio went home to meet her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2020.  She was born on January 3, 1942 in Pomeroy, Ohio daughter of the late James P. and Mamie Eblin Snider.
"Barb Mae" (also referred to as Mom, Big Nannie, Granny and Bab) worked in the bakery at Powell's Super Valu in Pomeroy where she served up the best doughnuts in town. However, her greatest job was being a wife, mother and Nannie. She was strong-willed, sassy and funny with a big heart. She kept us laughing with her stories about bread and Richard, just to name a few. She had an ongoing debate with her grandchildren about who was the favorite (which was eventually confirmed by a saved voicemail from one of the granddaughters) Her favorite band was NKOTB and she even had a sheet set in their honor. She requested that the family bring their sticky notes to place on wanted items. We ask that you please wait an appropriate amount of time to do this...tomorrow evening should be fine. She suffered with Rheumatoid Arthritis for more than 30 years, however, the perk to this was that she was able to point around corners. She often had us picking up lint from the floor that only she could see (and this was before the dementia) it was so bad that even the dog started barking at the "lint".

You can bet dad was waiting at the gates as she approached yelling, "JERRRRRYYYY!" After being separated for 4 years the reunion must have been grand as both sets of their parents joined in. She was greatly loved and will be missed beyond measure. The humor attempted in this is our way of coping with a great loss and as a loving tribute to an amazing woman.

She is survived by her children Shari (Steve) Blackwell, Bill (Pam) Colmer and Tim (Tonie Ward) Colmer; grandchildren, Amber Blackwell (Travis Hendricks), Arica (Paul) Smith, Aja (Shad) Collins, JR Blackwell (Sunshine), Jason (Karla) Leach, Dana Steele, Bill (Jessie) Colmer II, Seth Colmer (Emily Sanders), Airman Kiefer Colmer, Lacie (Cameron) Wiggins and Taylor Colmer (Bryce Martin); 30 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great Great Grandchildren; sisters Paulette Farley, Nancy (Mike) Porter and Tammy (David) Johnson; brothers Randy (Jan) Snider and Jimmie (Marilyn) Snider; brother in law Neil (Mary) Colmer, her dog Rascal and cat Ornery, many nieces, nephews and friends including a special friend and caretaker Terra Hart. We are grateful to Heartland Hospice, especially Carly and Amy who was always there when we needed them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Jerry, her beloved husband of 56 years, sisters in law, Joanne Miller and Fern (Bob) Daniels and brother in law Jim Farley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2020 at 6:00pm with Pastor Steve Blackwell officiating at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.  Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home.
