Ron, who had earned the nickname "Tree", graduated from Southern High School.  He went on to play football on a full ride scholarship at Glenville State College.  Then, he went on to receive his Masters from The University of Rio Grande.  Ron recently retired after dedicating 37 years of his life to his career in education.  His dedication to shaping young lives did not end in the classroom.  Throughout the years, Ron proudly served the community he loved as a coach, Athletic Director, mentor, and positive role model.  The number of lives he touched cannot be measured.

As dedicated as Ron was to his career, he was even more dedicated to his family and farm.  His family was his pride and joy and he loved to let everyone know.  Ron was an avid nature lover, earning the title of Master Gardener.  He spent many hours teaching and sharing his passion for the outdoors with his children and grandchildren.  The work ethic he displayed has been instilled in the lives of his children and grandchildren.  This will be a big part of his legacy.

Ron attended Carmel-Sutton United Methodist Church. There he enjoyed fellowship and listening to the music of Truly Saved.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.  Pastors from Carmel-Sutton UMC will preside over the funeral services to be held at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Graveside services will follow at Meigs Memory Gardens.
