Reba Jean Stout

  Reba Jean Stout of Syracuse, Ohio went to her heavenly home on February 1, 2021 at the age of 92. She was born on January 9,1929 in Fayette County, West Virginia to Oscar and Hallie Robertson.
  Jean, as she was known to everyone, was preceded in death by her husband Robert Samuel Stout, Jr., her son, David Robert Stout, her parents Oscar and Hallie Robertson, her sister and brother - in - law Freda and Kenneth Wilson, her in laws Robert Samuel Stout, Sr. and Danford Stout, four other brothers - in - law, and four sisters - in - law.
  Jean is survived by her daughter Carol (Danny) Crow of Pomeroy and her daughter - in - law Peggy Stout of Syracuse. She is also survived by her grandchildren Chris Stout, Robyn Pape (Allen), Danielle Crow (Jen Stow), Clay Crow (Shannon), her great grandchildren Will Sargent, Quinlan Sargent, Sydney Stout, Avery Stout, Max Stow, Ari Stow, Elin Crow, and Isla Crow, She is also survived by her nephew Tim Wilson (Laurie), four other sisters - in - law (Faye Willis, Doris Raynard, Emma Jean Stout, and Helen Stout) several step great grandchildren other nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends including June Lee, Betty Ash, and Kitty Counts.
  Jean was a faithful member of the Syracuse Asbury United Methodist Church, and was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. After graduating from East Bank High School in East Bank, West Virginia, Jean began life as a homemaker. Jean was widowed at the young age of 36. Being a young single mother with two teenage children to care for, she decided to attend nursing school. Nursing was Jean's calling and she became a lifelong caregiver. After finishing nursing school, she and her parents opened and operated for several years the Syracuse Nursing Home in Syracuse, Ohio, After closing the nursing home, Jean continued her nursing career at the Gallipolis Developmental Center caring for adults with developmental disorders whom she referred to as her kids. Upon retirement, Jean continued using her nursing skills by taking care of her mother, her brother - in law, and her sister until their deaths. She also helped other family members and neighbors whether it be taking them to doctor's appointments, bringing food, or just visiting.
   Jean will be laid to rest next to her late husband in private graveside services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday February 4 at the School Lot Cemetery in Carpenter, Ohio. Pastor Wesley Thoene officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Anderson McDaniel funeral Home in Pomeroy.
  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meigs county Meals on Wheels, Syracuse Asbury United Methodist Church, or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
