Daniel Ray Morrison

Daniel Ray Morrison, age 32 of Rutland Ohio, passed away at his residence, Thursday December 24, 2020 after a decade and a half struggling with addiction. Heroin told him “ I can make you feel accepted, I can make you feel worthy, I can make you feel normal, I can make you feel loved and I can make you feel nothing and make you feel like everything will all be ok” but what Danny may not have realized is that he was loved, he was worthy, he was normal and he was accepted. He was our Danny Boy.
Danny was born in Athens OH on November 5th, 1988, to Nelson and Vicki Morrison of Middleport.
From a young age, Danny was interested in learning hands on. He, like his father, was a jack of all trades. He found interest in playing and writing music, specifically on his guitar. There was not a song he could not learn. Throughout his life, he had met many great friends through music and was a part of several metal bands. Most recently he had taken interest in coaching his son’s t-ball team, which he was so proud to have the opportunity to do.
Danny was employed at inland marine as a deck hand; he enjoyed working on the river and learning that way of life. However, at the end of his hitch, he was also so happy to return home safely to his family. Due to missing many family events as a result of his choices during the recent years, he was always ready to spend time with his family, lighting up the room with his infectious laugh and smile. Danny was always known to have a smile on his face and be the first to help those in need.
In addition to his parents, he survived by his significant other, Destiny Dotson of Rutland and their sons, Devin, Draxton, Danthem, Dalton and the expected March arrival of Baby Boy Destin.
Also surviving is: brother Brad Morrison and his wife, Mary Beth, their daughters Isabella and Cheyenne, of Racine Ohio; sister Misty Morris and her husband, Jason, their daughter Kylee and expected May arrival of Baby Kennedi; paternal grandparents Mae Morrison of Middleport and Gene Morrison of Middleport; honorary grandmother, Dorothy Anthony of Middleport; paternal uncles Sam, Kenny and Jimmy and Lori Morrison, all of Middleport; paternal aunt Debbie Jacks of Middleport; maternal uncle Donnie Nitz of Pomeroy and Joe Brockert of St. Augustine, FL ; and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Nora and Coy Nitz, maternal aunt Deborah Brockert, and maternal Uncles Rick Schaefer, Rusty and  Brian Nitz and Paternal Aunt Roe Morrison
Services will be Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 1:00PM at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.  Burial will follow in the Bradford Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the service.
